This training is ideal for certified teachers or teachers in training looking to specialise in the hot practice.

Yoga Moves HOT is a hot yoga system (Tapasya) that draws intelligence from modern hatha yoga styles, while keeping the intensity of traditional hot methods. The practice incorporates breathing exercises, wrist light ‘static’ (as opposed to flowing) postures, and progressive series of balance, strength and flexibility sequences of asanas. It is both physically and mentally challenging and balancing. The heat facilitates safe, deep stretching and a cleansing, detoxifying sweat. You and your students will sparkle!

Yoga Moves Hot is a set sequence of approximately 30 postures practised in a heated environment of 35-40*C that facilitates safe, deep stretching and a cleansing, detoxifying sweat. The practice incorporates breathing exercises and static (as opposed to flowing) postures to cultivate balance, strength and flexibility, both physically and mentally. Following specific alignment and timing principles, you will work the entire body systematically – restoring the health of every organ, bone, joint, muscle, ligament, nerve and gland. By bringing fresh, oxygenated blood into every part of the body, this hot yoga practice rejuvenates the entire system, leaving you refreshed with a healthy glow.

The result is a style that allows for creative expression and spiritual depth, while safely maintaining the intensity and restorative effects of hot yoga. Fusing heat and principles of alignment with the remembrance of intention and self-awareness.

Some advice and training etiquette

The program of this HOT HATHA training is compact and intense. You will get the most out of this training if you empty out your agenda in the evenings and bring your focus to the program during the training.

Kristin asks you to show up as the student you would want you peers to show up as. Be present, self aware and disciplined with self care. Be aware of how much you speak and share or don't speak and share. Arrive in time and put your cell-phone off or leave it outside the room.

Tapasya Hot Yoga

The element of fire is brought into the environment for its transformative effect.

Tapasya Hot Practice is informed by the teachings of Hatha and hot yoga methods, and the 8 limbs of yoga are implicitly woven into the fabric of the classes. It incorporates intelligent alignment and timing principles and a light-hearted approach while maintaining the intensity and transformational qualities of traditional hot methods. The sequence promotes joint safety, and has been assessed and endorsed by physiotherapists – making it a powerful, nurturing and accessible practice for all levels.

It is a compact and intense 5-day program where you will learn all the necessary skills to teach Hot Yoga classes safely, clearly and intelligently while deepening your understanding of modern, alignment-based hot yoga.

In 2012, Kristin founded Tapasya Hot Yoga. She says: “It’s not just about doing a Vinyasa practice or a static Hatha practice in a hot room. The element of fire is brought into the environment for its transformative effect”

What it’s not: this is not Bikram yoga, but many Bikram teachers have loved this approach to alignment & teaching. It’s also not learning to teach from a script, which is epidemic in the hot yoga fitness environment.

What it is: while you will learn a set series, teachers are encouraged to teach from their own unique experience allowing freedom and variations across the sequence spectrum.

What you will experience

  • Twice Daily hot classes that will transform your practice and illuminate key teaching elements.

  • Hot (Tapasya) Philosophy and Teaching Methods.

  • Sequencing principles for Hot-Hatha classes for 60 and 75 minute & 90 min classes.

  • Asana labs to explore alignment principles for the pose syllabus.

  • Anatomy and physiology of Hot Yoga, Ethics and Lifestyle.

  • Teaching skills for YMHOT, including demonstrations, verbal cuing and assists, and teacher presence.

  • Practice Teaching with personalised attention and supportive feedback.

  • How to offer basic hands-on adjustments & to work with injuries.

 

Your teacher for this training:

The details

    • Students must be physically fit and have a regular practice yoga in a heated environment.

    • You must be a current teacher of an alignment-based yoga, experienced and currently giving lessons. Preferably a hot yoga, alignment based yoga or vinyasa based practice.

    • Beginners to this style of hot yoga are welcome and modifications will be offered, but be prepared to practice this style on a regular basis if you want to be able to teach it. We advice you strongly to familiarize yourself with the Yoga Moves HOT sequence before joining this training.

    • Attend at least 4 (preferably 40) HOT HATHA classes at Yoga Moves and observe at least 2 classes in the weeks leading up to the training.

    • After these classes journal your reflections and observations from your experience both as a student as an observer. Write down what you notice: similarities and differences of set series hot classes and teachers. Bring this to day one of the training.

    • To get your certificate for 45 hr, you must attend all training days and pass your exam.

    • Yoga Moves and Kristin are a YACEP: Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. You will get 45 continuing education credits.

    • In order to be certified in this method, you must be certified at the Yoga Alliance for a 200 hour program.
